Total wealth, one number

See your complete financial picture.

Dribs works out your net worth from the accounts you add yourself. It adds up your everyday, savings and investment accounts, subtracts what you owe on credit cards, and converts everything into one currency. A chart shows how the total has changed over time.

Net worth, explained

Net worth is what you own minus what you owe.

Add up the money in your accounts and the value of your investments, then subtract your debts. Followed month after month, that one figure tells you more about your progress than any single balance, because it captures saving, paying down debt and investment growth together.

Here's how Dribs would add up a simple set of accounts, with a euro ledger and one account held in US dollars:

Illustrative example. The figures are made up and assume 1 USD = 0.86 EUR; Dribs converts with daily reference rates, not your bank's rate.

Transfers between your own accounts, like moving €500 from checking to savings, change the individual balances but not the total. Spending, income and investment gains or losses do change it.

Accounts

Four account types, any mix of currencies.

Dribs has debit, savings, credit and investment accounts. There are no dedicated loan, mortgage or property types yet.

Everyday and savings

Current and savings accounts, each with its own currency, opening balance and date; a debit account works for a cash wallet too. Group them however you like.

Credit cards count as debt

Card balances are subtracted from your net worth. Cards also get a billing day, statements, and Quick Pay to settle the balance from another account.

82 currencies

Each account keeps its own currency, and totals convert into your ledger's main currency with daily exchange rates.

You decide what counts

Leave an account out of your net worth, for example money you look after for someone else, without deleting it.

Investments · Dribs Pro

Your portfolio, next to your cash.

With Dribs Pro, an investment account holds positions in stocks, ETFs and funds. You record buys and sells with quantity and price, and Dribs keeps the average cost and books realized gains or losses when you sell.

Prices are entered by hand: edit an instrument's price once, and every account holding it updates. That's a deliberate trade-off. There's no broker connection and no live price feed, so you decide how often to update, whether that's weekly, monthly or whenever you check your broker. Crypto assets aren't specifically supported.

Keeping it current

How the total stays up to date.

There's no bank feed, so your net worth moves when you record something.

  1. Add accounts with an opening balance

Give each account its balance on a given date. Everything after that date builds on it.

  2. Record what moves

Expenses, income and transfers update balances right away. Recurring transactions keep salary and rent current, and a CSV import catches up a whole month at once.

  3. Watch the trend

The Total Wealth chart on the Accounts screen shows one week, one month, one year, year to date or all time. A Total Wealth widget can put the figure on your Home Screen.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How exactly does Dribs calculate net worth?

It adds the balances of every account included in net worth, subtracts credit-card balances, and converts each account into your ledger's main currency using daily exchange rates. Investment accounts count at the prices you've entered.

Can I track a mortgage, loan or property?

Not as dedicated account types today. Dribs has debit, savings, credit and investment accounts, and only credit-card balances count as debts in the total.

Is net worth tracking free?

Yes. Accounts, the total wealth figure and its history chart are part of the free version. Investment accounts need the optional Dribs Pro subscription.
